I attended an art show. This piece is by artist Dawn Knight. It is called “Occupied Space (too much/not enough).” This is a representation of the artist’s body weight in sand, quilting fabric, acrylic and wood. [2019].

Our family took a photography adventure visit to the Manitoba Museum. I was thrilled to take this photo and realize how well it fit the “monochrome” theme. You never know when you’re going to get that just right photo. I find it’s better to go on photo adventures to see what you get, rather than go on a photo mission of looking for something in particular. A photo adventure is more fun and spontaneous!

James, N-10/11, and I are doing a photography course through The Great Courses. We are watching an episode each week and at the end of each episode is a photography assignment to practice what we learned that week.
In this photo I had my shutter open for a 30th of a second and moved along with the child as he sped past me. This created a blurred background, but some of the child/ski-ter are in focus. This was a really fun assignment.

I saw some pictures online recently of back-lit citrus fruit and it looked like stained glass. So, N-10/11 and I set up a shoot at home to see if we could get the same effect. This is a lemon back-lit with a flashlight. If you check out N-10/11’s page he posted his lime shot last week.

A macro shot of dust.

Ah, a sign of learning… sticky notes!

At the end of our road, the train tracks are a mile away yet. Due to the openness of the prairie fields, that whistle can be heard loud and clear literally for miles.
I had a tough time deciding if this should be under the “blue skies” theme, however, I took another that I think will suite that better. The prairies have such huge skies.

A rare sight in May 2020.
